Maybe it’s a beautiful, warm, sunshiney day with the birds singing and the breeze blowing. Or maybe you got up on the wrong side of the bed and all you want to do is sleep the day away. Whatever the situation, it’s one of those days when work or school is the last thing you want to do.
What do you do? An overly-dedicated person might bite the bullet and go to school or work. The rest of us will find a way to play hooky.
Watch Ferris Bueller (Matthew Broderick) describe the best way to pretend to be sick and get out of school for the day.

Ferris: The key to faking out the parents is the clammy hands. It’s a good non-specific symptom. I’m a big believer in it.
You fake a stomach cramp, and when you’re bent over moaning and wailing, you lick your palms. It’s a little childish and stupid, but then so is high school.

Discussion
In a recent study, 43% of people interviewed admitted to skipping work for fake reasons. The most popular day for people to skip work was Wednesday, and the most common reason people skipped work was to sleep.
While most people pretended to be sick in order to play hooky from work, others gave their managers more creative reasons for why they couldn’t go to work, such as:
“My cow bit me.”
“I’m too fat to get into my work pants.”
“I’m too drunk to drive.”
“I forgot I was getting married today.”
Have you ever skipped school or work? What was your excuse?
