The Neptunes are the hottest producers in the music business. They’ve recently created hits for Britney Spears, ‘N Sync, No Doubt, Mystikal, and Jay-Z. They’ve also remixed songs by Prince, Sade and Destiny’s Child.
Made up of two childhood pals, Pharrell Williams and Chad Hugo, the Neptunes have decided to create music for themselves. Their new band, called N.E.R.D. (No One Ever Really Dies), plays a mix of hip-hop, R&B and rock. It’s fresh and original, and I suggest that you check it out as soon as you can.

N.E.R.D.’s first single is called “Rock Star Poser.” It’s a song about a person who wants to be a rock star, but isn’t cool enough to be one. Here are some of the lyrics:
It’s almost over now
It’s almost over now
You think the way you live is okay
You think posin’
Will save the day
You think we don’t see
That you’re running
Better call your boys
‘Cause I’m coming
You can’t be me
I’m a Rock Star

Discussion

The N.E.R.D. album is awesome. I like every song on it. It’s totally different than other hip-hop music, and for that matter, it’s different than any other music I’ve ever heard. The Neptunes are truly unique.
Have you heard the Neptunes? Do you like hip-hop? Come to the Music Mix message board and let us know!
Rock on,
Migs
