Oh! So in the USA these stickers are already kinda standard? In Germany these things still need to be established.

This week a little boy got lost in a zoo in Germany and drowned when he fell into an artificial river. Of course there was a fence to make sure that things like these wouldn’t happen, but the child somehow managed to slip through. Thus the newspaper “Berliner Zeitung” now wrote an article about how to avoid the worst case if a child gets lost: 1.) Give your child clothes that are easy to remember – even for a stranger – and also easy to describe. These could be a hat in the form of a crown, a cartoon-themed shirt, bright shoes etc. 2.) Tell your child what to do if he gets lost. For example “You may ask a stranger for help, but don’t leave the zoo with him.” or “Stay where you are!” or “Go to the grocery store over there!” 3.) If your child is mature enough, make it learn your adress and name by heart. If not, attach a paper with the adress and your mobile phone number to the child’s bag or the clothes. Make sure the child couldn’t possibly lose the paper. 4.) A chhild that gets lost gets scared easily and will probably cry. This will get the child the attention of many people. Just tell the staff your child is missing and they will make sure that everyone in this park would know whose child this was and where to bring the child to. 5.) Keep a photograph of your child – at best a current one and at best one where it wears the same clothes. 6.) Make sure your child knows what you wear that day and what haircut you have that day. Thus it may recognize you faster in the crowd. 7.) Just shout into the crowd something like “My 3 year old daughter just got lost. She has brown hear and today she wears a blue dress.” You may also adress people directly – especially police officers. 8.) During the first five minutes you shouldn’t get too far from where you last saw the child. It may return and you may accidentally go the wrong direction.
